The premier laser rangefinder for hunters and marksmen of uncompromising standards, the Bushnell Elite 1600 ARC 7x26 rangefinder backs up its bold statements with proven performance and the best components available today. The Elite 1600 ARC is outfitted with Bushnell's Angle Range Compensation (ARC) technology, which provides accurate readings from tree stands and steep hills. Simply hit the Fire button and it will calculate the "shoots-like" distance based on the angle of your shot. No more having to adjust your true horizontal distance by eye when you're standing at an extreme uphill or downhill angle.
The rangefinder also offers a number of specially designed distance modes. Bow Mode, for example, simultaneously displays line-of-sight, angle, and true horizontal distances to the target from 5 to 99 yards. In Rifle Mode, you'll receive bullet-drop and holdover information customizable for the exact zeroed range of your rifle in conjunction with the Variable Sight-In (VSI) distance technology. The rangefinder also offers Scan Mode, which continually scans the course and updates the LCD with the latest distance info; BullsEye Mode, which acquires the distances of close-in small targets and game without inadvertently measuring background target distances; and Brush Mode, which ignores the brush and branches in the foreground and displays background distances only.
And with its super-premium, fully multicoated optics, no laser rangefinder monocular delivers a more stunning view. The housing is 100-percent waterproof, with Bushnell's patented RainGuard HD lens coating ensuring a clear view in moist conditions. Featured on all Elite products, the unique water-repellent coating causes water drops from rain, snow, sleet, or condensation to bead up into much smaller droplets. These tiny droplets scatter less light, resulting in a much clearer and brighter picture.
How Bushnell's Laser Rangefinders Work
Bushnell's laser rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 laser beam (as classified by the FDA), which is "bounced" off distant objects at the press of a button. In the process, the rangefinder uses a high-speed digital clock to measure the time it took for the laser beam to reach the target and return, and then calculates the distance within plus-or-minus 1 yard. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button and the time the exact range appears. The information appears on the unit's through-the-lens LCD display.
Because rangefinders bounce laser beams off targets in order to take measurements, their range is partially determined by the target's reflectivity. So distances to reflective or "hard" targets like rock cliffs and semis can be measured from farther away than those to soft-surface targets such as deer. Ranges for moderately reflective targets, like trees, fall somewhere in the middle. Most experienced hunters will use their rangefinder to estimate ranges to near and distant landmarks before they actually encounter a game animal. By pre-measuring ranges to spots where trophies are likely to appear, they can concentrate on making an accurate shot when the moment of truth arrives.

I say this, because many people confuse the two. This range finder works perfectly to 1600 yards without issue. I have not been able to get it to range past 1600 yards, so I wonder if it's software limited. The primary difference between this unit and it's closest top-of-the-line competitor, the Leica 1600 Rangemester CRF is that this unit actually works and is 1/2 the price. The glass on the Bushnell is not as nice and the Leica or the Swavorski LRF units. However, Leica has a large number of 1600 units that don't actually work (range) properly, and the Swavorski, which better at ranging 2000 yard distances, does not have ANY of the fetured of this unit. So, unless you NEED superior glass, as opposed to good glass, and you want to spend time and money looking for a working Leica unit, then this is the unit for you... This was the ticket! Optics clarity/brightness/colors/field of view all greatly improved over the 1200. I've even tested to 1580yrds off of a 10'x30' shack side silhouetted, along with many rolling prairie reads. Only complaint, red illuminated display hard to see in full daylight, even at brightest setting. However, unlike the much more common LCD display found on majority of models on market, which are easiest to read in full light & unreadable in low light, this model's optics' both gathers more light for better low light visibility,& the illuminated red display can be read in complete darkness. T.P.D.A.. Bushnell elite works well, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Bushnell Elite 1600 ARC 7x 26mm VDT Laser Rangefinder (Sports) I have sighted out to between 1600 to 1700 yards during bright sunlight (not optimal conditions) and could easily get readings on trees. I was also able to measure to 1000 yards by using a small bush no more that 4' tall. Measured yardage is accurate to at least 500 yards; I haven't confirmed measure yardage beyond that, but have no reason to believe it is off. I've also measure the distance to cows out to 800 yards. Quality of glass is acceptably good. I am pleased with purchase. There are numerous other features that I have not tested out. I cannot comment on them. |
